Blogging is one of the very best ways that you can get started making money online. Basically, if you know how to write you can earn a living online.

In this article I would like to go over the basics that will help to start making money from blogs. The important part is that you actually do something.

1) Choose your blogging platform

The first step is to choose your blogging platform. Basically there are only two main alternatives. The first one is Blogger. This is a very simple platform and even newbies can get started on this. If you are just starting out and do not know much I suggest that you go for this platform. If you are more technically savvy I suggest that you go for Wordpress as this has a lot more features. However, you may need a professional to help you get started as this uses a MySql database.

2) Frequently update your blog

Once you have chosen your niche market you need to write consistently. Preferably try and do at least 20 articles a day. The more content that you have on your site the more free search engine traffic that you will get.

3) Drive traffic to your site

Traffic is the lifeblood of your business. Without this you are very unlikely to succeed. Submit all your posts to blog carnivals as these will provide a surge of traffic. Submit your posts to web 2 sites like Digg. Also submit your blog to the top directories. This will increase your link popularity and search engine rankings.
